NHS Health Checks
The NHS Health Check is a free health check-up helping to prevent the onset of diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, stroke and certain types of dementia.
If you’re aged 40 to 74 and do not have a pre-existing health condition, you should be invited to an NHS Health Check every five years. IHL offer a service on behalf of our GP member practices, sending regularly scheduled text messages to eligible patients directing them to book an appointment with their GP.
From April 2022 to March 2023 there were 3,476 patients in south Southwark who received an NHS Health Check.

Southwark’s Vital 5 health kiosks offer free, self-service health checks to help residents monitor key health indicators—BMI, blood pressure, mental wellbeing, alcohol use, and smoking status.
These kiosks provide personalised guidance and signposting to local services, empowering people to take control of their health.

How to get your free health check at one of our health kiosks
There are four health kiosks in Southwark. You can use the health kiosk map to locate your nearest one.
The self-service kiosks are available at:
- Camberwell Library: 48 Camberwell Green, SE5 7AL
- Dulwich Library: 368 Lordship Lane, SE22 8NB
- Grove Vale Library: 18 to 22 Grove Vale, SE22 8EF
- Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre: 10 Melon Road, SE15 5QN
You don’t need to book – just turn up and use them for free. Check the library and leisure centre websites for opening times.
